I just want to point out a misconception. Felix & Sabina did not sell 4,300 hanghang in one year alone. That is the absolute *total* of how many have been made and sold between the years 2000-2007. At a price of 900euros, the hangmakers have made approximately 79,000euros annually. Since there are two hangmakers to pay, this money must be split between them. That comes to about 39,500euros each. Switzerland is an expensive country in which to reside. That is not a lot of money compared to, let’s say, a barrister or a doctor. That is modest middle-class money….hardly elitist. No, the hangmakers are not by any stretch of the imagination “rich”. What they do is a labor of love. If they wanted to become rich, they would mass produce Hanghang of lower quality and flood the market with inferior instruments. But that is not what they have chosen to do. What they are doing instead is perfecting and honing the Hang in order to offer the highest quality instrument to musicians who are serious about the Hanghang. I too would love to own a Hang one day and I hope that Felix & Sabina are serious about teaching the craft once they have achieved the level of quality that they desire. But there is no point in making judgments in anger due to the scarcity of the Hanghang. If you really desire a hang, maybe you should send a letter to Felix and Sabina and tell them how much you love the Hang and how your heart burns for one (rather than spreading vitriol and anger). All of us who have heard the Hang have been touched in our hearts and burn with the same covetous desire for one as you. But I, for one, plan to respect the maker’s wishes and send my letter and wait patiently for the day when Felix and Sabina call to invite me to Bern. Until then, I have started a savings account and I plan to have enough money to make my payment by 2009. The hang is not just another product to consume, it is a piece of art. It is HIGH ART worthy of an heirloom. As an artist myself, I understand that one pair of hands (or two) cannot satisfy everyone and some people must wait. But I for one would only ever sell my artwork to a kind and patient person who respects my craft…not to an impatient and angry spirit. Please don’t think that I am calling you names, Hackzeus…again, I sincerely understand your frustration. But you must remember that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. So they are not elitist? Why they don’t teach how to make hangs to other persons? … easy answer >>> MONEY!!

The hang is beautiful and incredible instrument, but the creators are now RICH and also elitist.

By the way don’t buy hangs on ebay (about 3.000 $) minimum, some bids are fake, or extremely abusive prices.

Good luck trying to get a hang and making rich Feliz and Sabina.
